Pieter Huistra appointed new coach of Pakhtakor

Pieter Huistra, who until that day worked as an assistant coach of our team, appointed head coach of Lions.

He worked with Shota Arveladze as part of the coaching staff. Thus, the game of the team practicing the philosophy of attacking football will be continued. Pakhtakor will continue to delight spectators and fans, demonstrating beautiful, dynamic, attacking football, without changing its style and philosophy, which has been built in recent years.

Pieter during his football career played at the famous Glasgow Rangers in Scotland for five seasons and five times became the country‘s champion. Pieter also performed in clubs such as Groningen, Wendam, Twente, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Liers and Rosendal. In the championships of Holland, Scotland, Japan and Belgium, he took part in 413 matches and scored 78 goals. As part of the Dutch national team in 1988-91, he played in 8 matches.

Huistra began his coaching career in 2001. Then he was appointed head coach of the Groningen youth team. After 4 years, he became an assistant to the head coach at Vitesse, from where he moved to the same position at Ajax. Later he worked as a head coach in the youth team Ajax, Groningen, De Graafshap and in the national team of Indonesia.

Since June 2017, he began working as an assistant coach at Pakhtakor and contributed to the team‘s victories.

Now Pшeter will continue his career at Pakhtakor as head coach.
