Today, a historian and chronicler of football in Uzbekistan and, in particular, Pakhtakor Vladimir Ashotovich Safarov turns the 79th birthday.

He is known for being a jazzman, journalist, writer and historian of football in Uzbekistan and countries of the former Soviet Union. His jazz group Artsakh participates in international jazz festivals on behalf of the Center of Armenian Culture of Uzbekistan; on his account about 3000 articles, which are published in the mass media of different countries; he is the author of about thirty books devoted to the history and statistics of football in Uzbekistan and the countries of the former USSR, as well as the life and work of outstanding football players and football clubs.

Vladimir Ashotovich handed over the statistics he collected about football in Uzbekistan to create Russian encyclopedias "Centennial of Russian Football" and "Encyclopedia of Women‘s Football", books "Football Planet". He also gave statistics on football in Uzbekistan for the Estonian book "Football of Independent Countries" and for the Ukrainian-Russian "Compendium of Statistics". He is also the author of the "Encyclopedia of Uzbekistan Football 1912-2012" (2014). In 2000 he was named the best journalist of the year by the Football Federation of Uzbekistan.
