One of the outstanding players in the history of Uzbek football, the Pakhtakor’s captain of the 60s and the coach of the legendary 1979 team, Idgay Tazetdinov would have turned 85 today.

He started playing football in the Tashkent children‘s team Medic, then in the team Trud. In 1953 Idgay Borisovich was invited to Spartak, where he reached playing maturity. When in 1956 Pakhtakor was created from Spartak in a new team came some football players including Tazetdinov.

In 1962, together with Pakhtakor Tazetdinov celebrated a high sixth place in the premier league, for which he was awarded the title of Master of Sports.

As part of Pakhtakor, the midfielder played 202 games and scored 33 goals in domestic championships, 7 times played in the cup match and was able to score a goal, and also defended the colors of Pakhtakor in 13 international matches.

In 1977 he was invited by the second coach in Pakhtakor. Thanks to the selection work conducted by him, in the championship-77 the team won a ticket to the big leagues, for which Tazetdinov was awarded the title of "Honored coach of Uzbekistan".

In the 1979 season Pakhtakor not without reason aimed at the place giving him the right to play in the UEFA Cup, but that ill-fated flight to Minsk happened...

Idgay Borisovich Tazetdinov has died in a plane crash on August 11, 1979 over the Dneprodzerjinsk.
